Many people want to show appreciation to their hospice team for providing exceptional care. In this episode Helen & Jerry discuss how you can express your gratitude in ways that are thoughtful...and legal.

Hospice agencies and their staff are not allowed to accept gifts from patients and their families.  Small, inexpensive items may be allowable (check with your hospice administrator), but large, more costly items are usually not allowed, including handmade items.

How can you express your gratitude for the wonderful care you’ve received from hospice?

  • Warm hugs
  • A thank you card
  • A letter of thanks to the entire staff, or to a single individual

In other words, simple things that convey your appreciation and gratitude mean more than you know. A gift doesn’t have to be expensive to make a difference.

If you have other suggestions of ways to express appreciation to hospice staff, write to us at host@theheartofhospice.com. We’d love to hear your ideas.
