All during this month we’ve been focused on self care - for mind, body, and spirit.  Self care is the way hospice caregivers - personal and professional - take care of themselves, so they can take care of others.

While we have learned a lot about self care during our time working in hospice (about 14 years combined), we still have lots to learn about taking good care of ourselves.  It’s a lifelong process of learning what self care practices work best for each of us as individuals.

Sometimes we have AMAZING self care days - meditation, research, workouts!

And then we have really lousy self care days - short sleep, cookies, TV marathons, ice cream.  (Enjoyable in short doses, but definitely not healthy habits to repeat.)

In this episode we share with you some of our best self care moments, and some of our worst self care moments.  Our purpose in sharing our best and worst is to remind you that there will always be moments when we struggle, and there will also be moments when we are strong.  The goal is to have more of the latter and less of the former.

Write to us about your self care practices, and what works for you.  Our email is host@theheartofhospice.com.  You can also engage with us on Facebook and Twitter.  Search for The Heart of Hospice.
