Hospice care is holistic care. One of the core philosophies of hospice is to provide care for the whole person: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual care. These are the core practices provided by hospice.
However, there are adjunct therapies that can be provided to enhance the hospice experience, and help improve quality of life for the patient and the family.
In this episode, Helen and Jerry share some complementary therapies that can be provided.
1. Music therapy
2. Pet therapy
3. Massage therapy
4. Yoga & Tai Chi
5. Aromatherapy
6. Guided imagery/meditation
The purpose of all of these therapies is to improve the quality of life of people on hospice. Always consider which one of these therapies might be beneficial for a specific patient.
